The purpose of the society is to promote, plan, coordinate and assist in the production of an annual Winter Carnival ("Carnival") to be held each year during the first fifteen days of february in and around the village of saranac lake, ny. Attendees are citizens of the village and the surrounding townships of north elba, harrietstown and st. armand as well as visitors a like. The main activities of the Carnival are held in the village. Various Carnival activities include contests, events, shows, outings, activities and meetings. The Carnival seeks to foster a festival-type atmosphere in order to attract residents and non-residents to the area.
