The purposes and objectives of the organization are: to promote interest in all aspects of bicycling. To encourage recreational and transportation bicycling. To gather and publish to its members information and news relating to bicycling. To secure a better understanding and recognition of the need for a safer environment for bicycling. To encourage and secure the provision of safe and desirable facilities for bicycling. To observe and promote safe, effective traffic cycling techniques and obey traffic laws. To present written comments and testimony of the views of the members in connection with legislative and administrative proposals relating to traffic regulations, equipment requirements for bicycles, the establishment and maintenance of bicycling facilities, and other actions affecting bicycling.
