To promote the physical, mental, social, and economic well-being of all Citizens of Newton, with special emphasis on those residents over 55 years of age, by such means as the directors, in their judgment, decide.to raise, through solicitation or otherwise, collect and receive funds and bequests, and to administer such funds and bequests for its purposes.to purchase, hold, lease, mortgage, and convey such real estate and personal property as may be necessary or incidental to the purposes of the corporation.to receive, hold, and administer gifts of propertyreal, personal, and mixedand generally to perform such lawful acts as are permitted by chapter 180 of the general laws, provided that no direct benefit inures to the private benefit of any member or officer.to provide for the entertainment and travel of elderly by offering necessary assistance to defray the cost of such entertainment or travel, in whole or in part.
