EIN 06-6049241 · Snapshot of IRS recognition, filing currency, financial health, and governance.
The association was originally formed for the purpose of aiding the members of the fire department (or the widows and children of such members) as may stand in need of its assistance and such other objects connected with the interest of the fireman of the city of New Haven. Since the department of the treasury reconsidered the exempt status of the organization in 1980 and changed it from a 501(c)(3) to a 501(c)(4) the association has been taking steps to correct it to a 501(c)(3) status. As such, it has changed the status of whom it provides support. Now, support is given to those within the greater New Haven area as may stand in need of assistance including all family members of first responders and any 501(c)(3) organization and such other objects connected therewith as may conduce the comfort, interest and respectability of the firemen, policemen and other members of the community of the greater New Haven area.
