The Louis j. Acompora Memorial foundation is committed to seeing an improvement insports safety with a special focus on the placement of automatic external defibrillators (aed's) for all schools and youth athletic organizations. We are dedicated to educating and sharing information on commotio cordis and sudden cardiac arrest. We support primary and secondary prevention measure to fight sudden cardiac death. These measures include aed grants, cpr/aed training for youth athletic coaches and the general public. Heart screen New York, a program that offers free heart screenings to youth 12-24 years of age, which are conducted in area high schools. We advocate for public access defibrillation and will investigate methods of developing and improving chest protection for all athletes.
