The Coalition of Institutionalized Aged and Disabled (CIAD) is a non-profit, constituent-led advocacy organization of adults living in adult care facilities that seeks to protect people's rights, improve the quality of their lives and living circumstances, and transform institutions into real community settings where people live with dignity, autonomy, and agency. CIAD organizes residents into resident councils which educate adult home residents about their rights, train and nurture resident leaders, and promote their participation in the affairs of their own residences and in broader public policy issues so that they may advocate for themselves.
