Reach Out and Read of Greater New York Inc

To provide support, guidance, training and financial and technical resources to member programs participating in the national pediatric early-literacy program known as Reach Out and read; to cooperate with community-based literacy programs and other organizations that are or plan to be engaged in promoting interest in awareness of the benefits of early exposure to books and the enjoyment of reading; to work with libraries to increase the number of families with library cards and to encourage families to take advantage of library facilities; to engage in or sponsor research on the effects of early pediatric literacy intervention and to collaborate with the efforts to studying this issue; to encourage partnerships with corporations, foundations, employers and charitable organizations in the sponsorship of the corporation's or its member programs' activities and to seek and obtain funding from these and other sources, including governmental entities.
