National Recreation foundation hosted virtual capacity-building workshops and trainings for grantees in 2025 on topics including what a difference a sabbatical makes; nurturing your soul: sustainable self-care; nonprofit legal basics: compliance with confidence; jam sessions on fundraising and storytelling; elevate your fundraising and grantseeking capacity in the current environment; making your grant proposals stand out with evaluative thinking and data; and planning to action: six phases for strategic plans that stick. NRF also hosted peer leadership circles, a year-long strategic planning cohort with ai-enhanced strategic planning software, provided evaluation support through university researchers specializing in outdoor Recreation program evaluation, and hosted two in-person events with funders, including one workshop in albuquerque and a leadership cohort meeting in Chicago. These programs were offered at no cost to participants.
