Waitt Institute

The Waitt institute conducted work related to sustainable ocean management in eight countries in 2024: azores, bermuda, federated States of micronesia, fiji, samoa, tonga, and vanuatu, with limited activities in the maldives. These jointly-funded programs provided financial and technical support to our government partners, who additionally provide in-kind support to achieve joint program goals as outlined in our mous with each government.azores: we developed and signed an mou addendum with the regional government that included details of funding support for msp implementation. The regional assembly approved the law to protect 30% of the azores' ocean, and we supported the government after passage to complete steps for legal implementation according to the timeline set out in the law.
