The purpose of the Milner Award, inc. is to foster in children a lifelong love of reading. In 2024-2025, approximately 2000 second grade students in eleven title I elementary schools across the Atlanta area participated in Milner Award activities. The Milner Award provided two books to each student through our implementing nonprofit partner, page turners make great learners. Students read and discussed the books in their classrooms, and each of the authors conducted virtual classroom visits with the students. Students then voted for their favorite author at the end of the school year and retained the books as the basis for the new home library.
