Strengthening K-3 reading: reading proficiency by third grade is a cornerstone of future academic success. By promoting K-3 reading comprehension in Puerto Rico, this program has an explicit goal of more students reading at grade level by 3rd grade. The foundation works hand-in-hand with teachers, school directors, administrators, researchers and policymakers to identify the greatest challenges to successfully teach reading in kindergarten through third grade, and then partners with them to create solutions.
