The National Association of Negro Musicians Inc NANM is a charitable educational organization dedicated to promoting preserving and supporting all genres of music created or performed by African Americans We advance knowledge and appreciation of this musical heritage by sponsoring scholarships competitions masterclasses and workshops presenting concerts and convenings and encouraging research documentation and publication of works and historical information about composers artists and Musicians of African descent Through National and local chapters NANM nurtures emerging and established Musicians and expands public understanding of Black contributions to the cultural arts
