Opening Doors PTA's goals are to educate, advocate, and support the special needs community. We believe that parents are the strongest advocates for their children. As parents with special needs kids, we must understand our children's difficulties and the IEP(Individualized Education Program) process in order to ensure our kids receive a good education. We host free Parent Education Workshops to help educate parents, professionals and other community members. The journey for parents with special needs kids is incredibly hard, and we believe no one should travel alone. We provide support groups and online forum for parents to connect and support each other. We provide grants to teachers, therapists and the Special Education Department of the Belmont Redwood Shores District whom serve our students. We offer after-school classes and opportunities to learn social skills for students. In addition, we advocate for equal rights and inclusion of the special needs community.
