Heartland Democracy Center

Heartland Democracy's mission is to fulfill Democracy's promise with diverse communities of empowered individuals. For the programs supported by this grant, our leadership, board, and team pursued this mission with an emphasis on community building, violence prevention, and an airing and discussion of difficult topics around hate, violence, and violent extremism, in our communities and around the world. Our programs are the core of Heartland Democracy's work. Our programs support participants' connections to school, family and community. We take time to demonstrate the possibilities in order to make clear the power of social and civic capital. Our skilled coaches, teachers and facilitators customize each program according to the needs of each cohort.
