Jefferson County Go Texan Inc

To support youth through education by providing scholarships. Fundraisers are conducted throughout the year in Jefferson County to provide funds for the scholarship program. Jefferson County Go Texan, inc., also supports the efforts of the Jefferson County area Go Texan committee of the Houston livestock show and rodeo (hlsr), which is responsible for providing contestants and a barbecue team to participate in Go Texan events of hlsr. Students submitting applications and participating in these events qualify for a chance to receive area Go Texan scholarships. Applicants not selected for a hlsr scholarship, are then considered for Jefferson County Go Texan, inc. scholarships. In 2021, an additional memorial scholarship honoring dalton w. Horn was established for graduating high school seniors and/or collegiate upper-classmen. Annual banquet fundraisers were held in 2021 & 2022 to fund eight $5,000 scholarships each year for 5 years, with any remaining balance to be awarded in the sixth.
