Founded in 2008, the mission of the all-star orchestra ( the organization) is to make accessible, for free, the joy and understanding of classical music to the widest possible audience through public television and the world's largest educational website: the khan academy. To achieve this the organization produces, films, and records classical and contemporary orchestral masterpieces in a concert hall, with the resulting programs to be broadcast over local, national and interactive public media. The programs include a strong educational component and are inspiring new directions for music education ( 6 Million music students reached via khan academy), entertainment, and high-level artistic exposure for a broad and diverse audience.
