Restoration/Revitalization of the Old Frankfort Grade School, an historic structure, that is on the national register of historic places. The building is a four-story structure that has existed for approximately 122 years. The school served the community until 1998, when it was sold to a private party. After about fifteen years of private ownership the building had been abandoned, fallen into disrepair, and was left open to the elements after suffering significant vandalism. The structure was in danger of demotion. The Frankfort Development Trust was formed to as a vehicle to restore and revitalize the building to serve a rural community. The goal is to provide a mix of housing, community space, learning environment, daycare, and historic commemoration in a multi-generational hub atmosphere.
