It shares the purposes se forth in title 36 usc 230102 for the congressionally chartered veterans of foreign wars of the United state.as a "veterans service organization", the mission of Canton Post no.1984, veterans of foreign wars consists of veterans advocacy, historical education and commemoration, encouraging national security through support of our nation's men and women in uniform, promoting good citizenship and community service, encouraging America's youth to excel in athletics, community service and academics, facilitating direct assistance to needy military personnel and their families and to veterans and supporting actions and activities that further these missions and promote the social well being of veterans and their families.
