The Educational program is designed to develop young children's social, physical, and intellectual skills from 6 weeks through 11 years of age and to prepare them for a successful entrance into elementary school. The after-school program for children from 6 to 13 years of age concentrates on providing constructive experiences in recreation and the creative arts. Nutrition education and health education are stressed at all levels. Children needing additional help or diagnostic testing are referred to the appropriate community agencies. Parent involvement is encouraged with regard to the education program and the entire operation of the edcc. In fulfilling these aims and objectives, the staff of the edcc must remain sensitive at all times to the needs of the children both immediate and long-range. Regardless of their position, all staff are expected to treat the children with respect encourage a positive attitude toward learning, and foster a sense of security and happiness.
