The Historical Vandalia inc. mission is to develop, operate, enhance, and maintain the fayette county museum devoted primarily to the history of Vandalia, fayette county, and Southern Illinois and to the display, explanation and interpretation of various artifacts and items related to such history. In achieving this goal they will also acquire real and personal properties which are of educational, Historical and social interest. Will develop and maintain a program or programs of activities which shall encourage Historical research and writing, and foster the education of the general public about persons, matters, events and things of significant local and regional Historical and social interest. Will acquire, protect, preserve and improve historic structures and personal property for the purpose of display, research, and interpretation. Will sponsor programs and activities calculated to foster and improve public Historical awareness and participation.
