The Chance foundation owns and maintains the a. Bishop Chance home and grounds. The house serves as the building housing the centralia historical society museum. The centralia historical society, inc. is a 503(c)(3) corporation. The home is a 1904 queen anne victorian style house listed on the national historic registry. The grounds include the Chance garden, listed on the national historic registry, which is boone county's oldest garden open to the public. Adjacent to the museum and Chance gardens is a victorian rose garden with 400+ different varieties of hybrid tea floribunda roses.
