Urban Community Arts Network (UCAN) fosters madison's cultural ecosystem through mentorship, education, advocacy, and creating equitable and inclusive spaces where creativity thrives.we aim to empower artists of color by:- fostering creativity and collaboration in the local hip-hop scene by creating live music events in the Community.- promoting professional growth through free or low-cost workshops and panel discussions featuring music industry professions.- creating artist residencies in schools/Community centers to incorporate hip-hop in education.- building sustainable and safe performance opportunities for all local hip-hop artists, regardless of lyrical content, by continuing discussions with city officials, madison police department, and venue owners.
