Operating out of New York City, Ocean Sanctuary Alliance,inc. Is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to restore and sustain world's oceans by securing natonal commitments to establish science based marine sanctuaries. Ocean Sanctuary Alliance works with member States of the un, scientists and leaders from civil society such as nongovernmental organizations. Core activities include: 1)bringing the best sustainability thinking, practices, and programs with a focus on: -preserving a healthy and productive marine environment -accelerating sustainable streams of economic development, particularly eco-friendly tourism -addressing the impacts of climate change and increasing capacity for disaster risk management 2)working with partners to help small member island States achieve target 5 of the un's strategic development goal 14.
