The Scratch Foundation (the Foundation) is a nonprofit organization that develops and supports the Scratch creative coding website and online community. The Foundation's mission is to help kids everywhere create what they imagine. As children use Scratch to make and share stories, games, and animations, they learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively-essential skills for everyone in today's society. Scratch was originally developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Lab, and moved to the Scratch Foundation in 2019. The Scratch Foundation's work is guided by three strategic priorities: 1) to sustain and enhance the platform; 2) to amplify the impact of Scratch software through international programmatic work and research initiatives; and 3) to build a sustainable organization so that Scratch software and the Scratch Foundation are secured for the long-term.
