Growing community not just plants, BPR-CPR is an urban agriculture and recycling educator. Benson Plant Rescue recycles damaged, overstock, and end of season nursery goods from area retailers as well as surplus plants from gardeners thinning or changing their gardens. Community Produce Rescue sorts and recycles less-than-desirable fruits and vegetables from area grocers. Freshly-sorted produce is delivered to various low-income groups, homeless shelters, food pantries, and non-profit group homes in the Omaha area. Produce that is too ripe is used for compost for the Benson Plant Rescue.
