CMDC's mission is to awaken and activate the creative, intuitive power of the heart through Dance/movement for healing and wellness in mind, body and spirit. CMDC works mainly with BIPOC cis/trans girls, women and non-binary individuals in low-income communities throughout Los Angeles. Over 75 of our participants identify as Latinx, and are immigrants or the children of immigrants. Our programs serve youth 16+ and adults of any age. CMDC fulfills its mission in four main ways: 1 Survivor Empowerment Program: We partner with local nonprofits that serve sexual or domestic violence survivors to provide 6-12 week Dance from the Heart programs. 2 Teen Empowerment Program: We partner with local nonprofits to provide 6-12 week Dance from the Heart programs for teens and young adults ages 16-25. 3 Dance from the Heart Virtual Classes and Workshops: Open to the public and offered at low cost online 4 Teacher Trainings: Offered throughout the year to train new Dance from the Heart teachers CMDC'
