The mission of The Society For The Preservation of Near-Extinct Species (the Organization) is to provide scientific information and educational services to the public in the areas of cryobiology and extending the healthy human lifespan. This is achieved through a one-of-a-kind facility inside an underground house. The Organization purchased the property - which was built during the Cold-War era to withstand a nuclear blast - in March 2014. One of the purposes of the property is to exhibit collections of documents and memorabilia in order to preserve its historic significance. As a structure that was built to exist in perpetuity, the house is ideal for storing and exhibiting cryo-preserved biological specimens (including the DNA of Near-Extinct Species), organs for transplant, and other biological tissue. The facility includes a display area, a library and other scientific and educational resources.
