The greater Long Island area has experienced unprecedented growth in its Asian communities over the past two decades. In response to the many needs created by this population boom, the Long Island Chinese American association (LICAA) was formed by a group of volunteers from Long Island's Chinese community. LICAA is a non-profit and non-sectarian organization committed to building a stronger community through leadership, collaborative efforts, multi-cultural promotion and services. LICAA's objectives are: - serve the Long Island Chinese community - promote multi-cultural arts, and introduce the Chinese culture and traditions to the community - foster collaborative efforts, volunteerism and leadership - promote community participation and awareness among our members - represent the interest and concerns of Chinese residents in the community
