The purpose is to provide information and education to members concerning the transportation of clay by railroad, motor carrier and by water; to provide a forum for presentation and discussion of current developments and information relating to the regulation by governmental authority of clay transportation, and to advance and represent in every lawful manner the interests of members of the Association in the transportation of clay. Consistent with this purpose, the Association represented interests in transportation matters before the Surface Transportation Board and other governmental agencies. This includes representation before the AAR Tank Car committee on issues involving the transportation of clay and other non-hazardous materials in tank and hopper rail cars. This also includes the continued analysis of various security and environmental regulations related to transportation as well as proposed legislation. The Association usually holds an annual meeting.
