United States Holocaust Memorial Council

Chartered by a unanimous act of congress, the museum is America's national institution for the documentation, study, interpretation, and education of Holocaust history and serves as our country's Memorial to the victims of the Holocaust. A nonpartisan, federal educational institution, the museum is dedicated to ensuring the permanence of Holocaust memory, understanding, and relevance. The power of Holocaust history can challenge leaders and individuals worldwide to think critically about their own role in society and to confront antisemitism and other forms of hate, prevent genocide, and promote human dignity.
