Uva Prince William Health SYSTEM ("pwhs") is part of the uva community Health enterprise, an integrated network of not-for-profit, tax-exempt entities that includes physician offices, outpatient facilities and community medical centers. Uva community Health and its component entities, along with the university of Virginia medical center, the uva school of medicine, uva school of nursing, uva physicians group, and the claude moore Health sciences library, comprise uva Health. General information as the legal parent entity, pwhs acts as the holding company for various ambulatory healthcare service lines within uva community Health, including uva community Health medical group ("the medical group"), its physician medical group, a cancer center, and an outpatient imaging center. In addition, it holds title to certain real estate used by the various healthcare entities in the SYSTEM. The medical group is a group of more than 280 employed providers that care for patients at more than 30 outpatient clinic locations across culpeper, Prince William, and fauquier counties and surrounding geographies. These include primary care and family medicine, pediatric primary and specialty care, obstetrics and gynecology care, Cardiology, medical Oncology, sports medicine, orthopedics, Neurology, urology, behavioral Health, general surgery, colorectal surgery, breast care and breast surgery, plastic surgery, bariatric surgery and weight loss care, vein and vascular care, physical, occupational and speech therapy, and urgent care. Since 2023, this medical group has hired more than 60 providers, opened new locations for urology, medical Oncology, surgical care, family and sports medicine, and made improvements and expansions to several primary care and specialty care offices. Uva Health cancer care gainesville provides cancer care services for many types of cancer, including bladder, bone, brain, breast, colorectal, esophageal, gynecologic, head and neck, lung, pancreatic, prostate, skin, stomach, and testicular cancer. Treatments offered at cancer care gainesville include radiation therapy, radiosurgery, Chemotherapy, and pet/ct scans. In 2023, the medical group opened a medical Oncology practice that works closely with uva Health cancer care gainesville, uva Health cancer care culpeper, and the uva emily couric cancer center at university medical center to assist patients from diagnosis to treatment and recovery. The gainesville cancer care team coordinates cancer support groups with other departments, such as the uva Health breast care center in haymarket, and the general and specialist surgeons in our local surgical care clinics. Uva Health outpatient imaging centreville is a stand-alone outpatient imaging center that offers state-of-the-art high-field 3t, open-bore mri as well as arthrogram, ct, ultrasound, and x-ray services. It provides a wealth of information to patients and providers regarding how to obtain an imaging order, how to prepare for an imaging study, and how to navigate billing, insurance and payment. In addition to our quality of services and comprehensive categories of services, we're very proud of our patient financial services program. We work with customers to help qualify them for public assistance, establish payment plans and discounts on their bills, or provide them with free charity care. Community engagement team members and providers from the medical group volunteer their time at community events to offer preventive care screenings and education. They host senior dinners, and in 2024 hosted an educational youth summit for all youth volunteers to educate them on careers in healthcare. Educational opportunities include engagement during heritage months and Health awareness weeks, including october's breast cancer awareness month, outreach to underserved communities such as the lgbtq+ population, the latinx community during hispanic heritage month, and engaging the black and African American community during various men's Health and men's cancer awareness opportunities throughout the year to share Health information and promote the need for screenings. The obgyn practice providers partner with local free clinics to host educational baby showers at Prince William medical center for mothers-to-be, educating on prenatal care, and providing information about post-partum support groups. The primary care practices participate in an accountable care organization (aco) under the centers for Medicare and Medicaid services, which holds the entity accountable for the total cost of care and patient Health outcomes of their Medicare patient panels. Additionally, the pediatric practices participate in fortify children's network, a state-wide clinically integrated network of providers that use data and analytics to improve care coordination and patient outcomes. Uva community Health is proud of these population Health activities and our providers' success in moving to alternative payment models that provide greater value for the services provided and outcomes achieved.
