The Japanese government does not recognize the diploma received by children who graduate from schools not officially recognized by the Japanese education ministry.therefore, they cannot be admitted to Japanese universities. For children of Japanese descent whose parents are temporarily located abroad,the need to conform to the educational system of the home country is a very serious problem. To avert potential problems, supplemental education for the children of Japanese nationals is an absolute necessity. The Newport News Japanese School was incorporated on january 29, 1988 for the purpose of providing appropriate schooling to Japanese speaking students in the hampton roads area.the School offers classes in Japanese language to non-Japanese speaking students from the hampston roads area.
