Mission is to restore Native Coastal habitats and to educate others as to the effective, efficient methods of habitat restoration. In july 2013, we assumed control of the keys environmental restoration fund (kerf). The program has been renamed keys restoration fund (krf) and is overseen by the u.s. Army corps of engineers. This is an in-lieu fee program funded by fees that permittees must pay for incurred damages to the environment from construction activity. Krf uses these funds for adminstration, project identification, permitting, implementation and monitoring of large scale mitigation projects to offset impacts from construction. All fees collected and mitigation projects are located within the service areas of the upper and lower Florida keys.
