Novant Health, inc. is a non-profit integrated network of more than 900 locations, including 19 medical centers, more than 750 physician clinics and urgent care centers, outpatient facilities, and imaging and pharmacy services. Novant Health's more than 40,000 team members along with more than 8,500 independent and employed clinicians care for patients and communities in north carolina and south carolina. The Novant Health integrated healthcare system operates in order to carry out its charitable mission of creating a healthier future for the communities it serves and delivering a remarkable patient experience. Novant Health accomplishes that mission by providing and supporting excellent healthcare facilities and physician practices and by making a commitment to community outreach/service through the provision of community benefit programs. By bringing together world-class technology and clinicians to provide quality care, Novant Health is committed to creating a healthcare experience that is simpler, more convenient and more affordable so patients can focus on getting better and staying healthy. In 2024, Novant Health provided more than 7 Million patient visits and over $1.6 Billion of community benefit expenditures system-wide. In addition to providing a high quality, comprehensive catalog of healthcare services, Novant Health offers a robust patient financial assistance program, working with its patients to assist with establishing reasonable payment plans, discounting patient bills, and providing free care for those that qualify under its financial assistance policy. Community outreach community outreach is a critical component to the mission of Novant Health. The healthcare system provides hundreds of programs that serve patients, neighbors, and some of the communities' most vulnerable citizens. Novant also provides financial assistance (I.e., charity care) for its qualified uninsured patients, catastrophic settlements and long-term payment plans to medically indigent patients, services to patients with Medicare, Medicaid, and other government medical program coverage (reimbursed at less than cost), community Health education, support groups, subsidized outreach services, and community events/screenings. In addition, Novant participates in medical research, as well as academic Health programs and partnerships with a diverse group of organizations to provide other community initiatives. Novant Health is also committed to supporting the communities it serves through charitable contributions to community-based programs that improve Health equity and upward mobility for those who need it most. Toward that goal, Novant invests in community-based programs that align with its two investment priorities of developing healthy communities and expanding opportunities for healthcare education. The annual Novant Health community impact report, available at https://www.novanthealth.org/about/community/community-Health-needs/, includes qualitative and quantitative information regarding the healthcare system's community benefit efforts and achievements. For 2024, Novant Health's system-wide community benefit expenditures totaled approximately $1.61 Billion, including $139 Million of financial assistance. Greater winston salem region: Novant Health forsyth medical center ("nhfmc") provided Health screenings and clinics for blood pressure/hypertension, cholesterol, Diabetes, immunizations, and breast cancer in both stationary and mobile clinic settings. Additionally, nhfmc collected, organized and dropped off donations for hurricane helene relief efforts, providing access to water, food and clothing for hurricane victims. Novant Health clemmons medical center ("nhcmc") provided blood pressure checks and hands-only cpr demonstrations at clemmons community day and provided breast education and first aid for events hosted by the lewisville-clemmons chamber of commerce. Nhcmc also hosted a blood drive for hurricane helene victims and collected canned goods and hygiene items for donation. Novant Health kernersville medical center ("nhkmc") provided Health education to the community through a wellness webinar, healthy living expo, heart Health programs and an "ask an educator" event. Novant Health thomasville medical center ("nhtmc") offered screenings and support groups, including breastfeeding support through its baby cafe and blood pressure/hypertension screenings at various community events. Nhtmc also hosted a drive for items to support victims of hurricane helene. Novant Health medical park hospital ("nhmph") provided free access to the mycommunity platform, which enabled community members to search for free or reduced cost resources located within the community by covering the annual fees for this platform that community members would have otherwise had to pay. Nhmph also hosted a coat drive, a food drive and a drive for items to support victims of hurricane helene. Greater charlotte region: Novant Health presbyterian medical center ("nhpmc") provided support groups and educational programs on a variety of topics, including cancer prevention, advanced directives, behavioral/mental Health, child safety, cpr/first-aid, Diabetes, fall prevention, water safety and violence intervention. Novant Health huntersville medical center ("nhhmc") provided in-kind donations through event medicine first aid, accessibility supplies like walkers, eyeglasses and canes, and backpacks for children going back-to-school. Novant Health mint hill medical center ("nhmhmc") provided Health education and screenings at community centers and events, including cpr/first-aid training, violence intervention and medication safety. Novant Health matthews medical center ("nhmmc") held support groups for Diabetes, injury and Parkinson's support. The facility also held classes for Parkinson's exercise, weight management programs and obesity. Novant Health rowan medical center ("nhrmc") supported the community with several back-to-school events that provided children and teachers with school supplies. Nhrmc also collected cold weather items and baby supplies to support those impacted by hurricane helene. Novant Health ballantyne medical center ("nhbmc") supported the community by offering a childbirth class tailored for Spanish speaking patients. Coastal region: Novant Health new hanover regional medical center ("nhnhrmc") helped address food insecurity in the region by hosting food packing events throughout the year. Nhnhrmc also hosted many Health screenings at various community events throughout the year. Novant Health pender medical center ("nhpmc") sponsored a baby care tent at multiple local community events and hosted multiple blood drives in partnership with the American Red Cross. Novant Health brunswick medical center ("nhbmc") provided Diabetes, cholesterol, and blood pressure screenings in various locations in brunswick county and provided education explaining what the "numbers" mean. The facility also hosted a community baby shower that provided needed items for new moms and babies along with information about available resources in the community. Novant Health east cooper medical center ("nhecmc") was acquired during 2024. This hospital facility will report community information in future tax years. Novant Health hilton head medical center ("nhhhmc") was acquired during 2024. Novant Health coastal carolina medical center ("nhccmc") was acquired during 2024. New technology & services nhmmc continued construction on its four-story, 150,000 square-foot critical care tower. The tower will expand surgical and heart and vascular services, as well as add inpatient capacity including a new icu to increase access to advanced services. Nhmmc has been recognized by us news and world report for success in supporting black mothers and their babies. Nhmhmc continued construction on an emergency department expansion which will double the size of its current emergency department.
