The Foundation is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and exists to support and promote the welfare and future development of the College. In furtherance of this purpose, the Foundation may receive and administer gifts, grants, and bequests; acquire, hold, manage, lease, develop, and dispose of real and personal property; invest and reinvest assets, including endowment funds; and distribute funds or property to benefit the College and its programs. The Foundation operates under the direction of its Board of Directors and is prohibited from engaging in activities inconsistent with its tax-exempt status, including political activity or private increment. Upon dissolution, any remaining assets are required to be distributed to Columbia College.
