In 2023, Novant Health provided nearly 7 Million patient visits and over $1.5 Billion of community benefit expenditures system-wide. In addition to providing a high quality, comprehensive catalog of healthcare services, Novant Health offers a robust patient financial assistance program, working with its patients to assist with establishing reasonable payment plans, discounting patient bills, and providing free care for those that qualify under its financial assistance policy. Novant Medical Group, inc., doing business as Novant Health Medical Group ("NHMG"), is a physician-led organization comprised of over 2,000 physicians and advanced practice clinicians at more than 700 clinic locations in north carolina and south carolina. Medical Group physician specialists have advanced training in areas such as Cardiology, obstetrics and gynecology, endocrinology, Pediatrics, Neurology, orthopedics, otolaryngology (I.e., ear, nose and throat disorders) and many more. NHMG leads the country in focus on patient safety in a Medical Group setting. Other key accomplishments of NHMG include antibiotic stewardship, patient safety coaches, pdsa cycles focused on safety, and a growing acknowledgment of safety improvement opportunities. NHMG follows an array of quality metrics and continues to improve and perform well, with particular progress being seen in management of Diabetes, improvement in Health maintenance, and annual Health screenings. NHMG continues to see growth in its digital efforts by expanding mychart users from 2 Million to 2.5 Million in 2023. Community outreach community outreach is a critical component to the mission of Novant Health. The healthcare system provides hundreds of programs that serve patients, neighbors, and some of the communities' most vulnerable citizens. Novant also provides financial assistance (I.e., charity care) for its qualified uninsured patients, catastrophic settlements and long-term payment plans to medically indigent patients, services to patients with Medicare, Medicaid, and other government Medical program coverage (reimbursed at less than cost), community Health education, support groups, subsidized outreach services, and community events/screenings. In addition, Novant participates in Medical research, as well as academic Health programs and partnerships with a diverse Group of organizations to provide other community initiatives. Novant Health is also committed to supporting the communities it serves through charitable contributions to community-based programs that improve Health equity and upward mobility for those who need it most. Toward that goal, Novant invests in community-based programs that align with its two investment priorities of developing healthy communities and expanding opportunities for healthcare education. For 2023, Novant Health's system-wide community benefit expenditures totaled approximately $1.61 Billion, including $225 Million of financial assistance. NHMG supported the community in 2023 through community clinics, Health education initiatives, community building activities, and more. Some specific examples of healthcare outreach provided to various communities served by this organization include: - the green street clinic and community care clinic in winston-salem, nc is a free clinic supported by NHMG physicians, advanced practice clinicians and nurses. Novant Health foundation granted funds to expand behavioral Health services to patients at this clinic through telemedicine. - the intergenerational center for arts and wellness, launched in 2023, is a senior services initiative that has strategically brought more than 20 local nonprofit organizations, including NHMG, under one roof to offer Health care services, fellowship opportunities and arts-based activities for people of all ages in forsyth county, north carolina. - Novant Health partnered to open two michael jordan family Medical clinics in charlotte, north carolina, bringing comprehensive primary care to mecklenburg county's most vulnerable communities, including behavioral Health and social support services. Two additional clinics are planned for the wilmington area, the first one scheduled to open in 2024. - Novant Health and movement mortgage partnered to open a primary care Medical care clinic in charlotte, north carolina. The movement family wellness center, powered by NHMG physicians and staff, provides preventive/primary care and behavioral Health services. - Novant Health partnered with the hope community clinic of east charlotte to operate a clinic serving families in at-risk neighborhoods in charlotte, north carolina. NHMG providers are available for appointments three days a week, offering immunizations, checkups and other crucial services. - by offering free Health screenings, NHMG physicians, nurses and advanced practice clinicians are educating multiple communities about prediabetes, Diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity. - NHMG team members serve as team physicians at local schools, participate in mission trips to areas where Medical care is often not available, and serve on boards and committees of community Health organizations in multiple communities served. Accreditation all Novant Health Medical Group clinics have been fully accredited by the joint commission, an independent organization that evaluates a healthcare organization's performance in areas that most affect patient Health and safety.
