Sabbatical program - in 1990, with prior approval from the irs, the foundation established a sabbatical program for individuals in paid full-time leadership positions who have served their north carolina nonprofit organization for at least three years. The sabbaticals were established to provide an incentive to leaders for charitable organizations to continue their charitable work, and to improve and enhance their leadership capacity, skills, and talents. Each recipient is awarded $30,000 and each recipient's organization is awarded $10,000. Awards are made on a bi-annual basis.
