The Food Addiction institute, founded in 2005, is a global, independent nonprofit organization whose vision is to mitigate Food Addiction and encourage its treatment in the world. We support the recovery of those who experience Food Addiction to recover, and help the caregivers who work on their behalf by identifying and providing perspective and resources. To accomplish our mission, the institute works toward the following: fostering the inclusion of Food Addiction as a substance use disorder in the diagnostic manuals of the world health organization and the American psychiatric association. Educating physicans, dietitians, nutritionists, therapists, counselors, and allied health professionals that Food Addiction is a treatable disorder. Advocating widespread acceptance of Food Addiction in society and promoting effective abstinence-based solutions.
