In 2024, the National Cave Museum continued its mission of preserving, interpreting and understanding cave history, and making its collections and library available to researchers and the public. The Museum continued its ongoing acquistion of cave-related materials, both through purchase and contributions. The Museum has acquired a cataloging system and has begun to catalog and digitize its collection with the goal of making the collection more accessible to the public. The Museum sent representatives to numerous cave-focused meetings and conferences to find material for acquisition and to nourish relationships and spread information about the Museum among the cave community. The Museum is open to the public and gives about 250 guided tours annually. The Museum also hosts about a dozen researchers annually.
