The overall program is designed to help mentally retarded adults who are non-job trainable achieve their potential and live as independently and normal lives as possible. Approximately 28 students per day are served from september through may each year. The program consists of academics (language arts, and mathematics) to continually reinforce skills on individual levels; self help (use of calculators, telephone skills, personal hygiene and household chores) to aid in independent living; social/emotional (etiquette, manners, personal feelings, and emotions - to teash correct behavior and how to recognize different feelings and emotions in both themselves and others and how to interact with those around them); physical fitness & exercise (to encourgage good physical health and sports competition); music and arts/crafts (for recreational purposes).
