Points of LIGHT is a nonpartisan, global nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring, equipping, and mobilizing people to create positive change through volunteering and civic engagement. We envision a world where every individual is connected to their purpose, engaged in community, and empowered to make a difference through service. Our mission is more urgent than ever. Communities face complex, intersecting challenges from food insecurity to climate resilience. Yet too many people feel disconnected or unsure how to help. Points of LIGHT works to close this gap by building the systems, tools, and culture that make meaningful civic engagement possible at scale. We achieve our mission by: - strengthening the volunteer ecosystem: we support a global network of 120 affiliates in 38 countries, build capacity across the nonprofit sector, and partner with companies to scale service and impact. - advancing corporate social impact: we advise companies on their employee engagement and community investment strategies, helping mobilize talent and resources to meet real community needs. - fueling civic engagement through data and storytelling: we publish research and insights, amplify stories of service, and convene leaders to champion a culture where volunteering is a shared value. Each year, we mobilize over 3.7 Million people in volunteer efforts valued at $437 Million, contributing vital support to thousands of community-based organizations. As we look ahead, we are investing in innovation, coalition building, and technology to double the rate of volunteering in the u.s. By 2035 and build more connected, resilient communities worldwide.
