Grassroots outreach and education of the public on California forest protection. We called for communications to elected officials to oppose the use of federal Inflation Reduction Act funds to establish a highly polluting wood pellet industry in California. We alerted our supporters to call for strengthening the draft National Old-Growth Amendment Draft Environmental Impact Statement covering the entire national forest system. We organized outreach to the federal Bureau of Land Management, demanding that it develop older forest protections per an earlier presidential executive order. We urged the U.S. Forest Service to streamline or replace its problematic CARA portal, which is supposed to facilitate the agency's receipt and processing of public comments. We called upon government officials to safeguard and strengthen the Northwest Forest Plan, which covers 24 Million acres of federal forestland in California, as well as Oregon and Washington.
