The specific purpose of the Linux Kernel organization (LKO) is to provide equal and widespread access to the Linux operating system to the public and open source developers, educators, and researchers to enable communication in the area of Linux system development, education, research, and to stimulate the development of a free exchange of information about the Linux operating system. LKO distributes the Linux Kernel and related open source projects to the public by operating a network of servers, available amojng other methods through its web interface located at http://www.Kernel.org. The Linux Kernel is the core of the freely-available Linux operating system.
