Megapop was founded in 2002 to increase broadband availability in the northeast Mississippi region through better infrastructure, economies of scale and eduction in order to foster the creation of high-speed internet "points of Presence" in north Mississippi through encouraging public- private and cooperative partnerships. Megapop's goals include improving Economic viability in the area, creating demand for high-speed internet and increased build-out of "last mile access".
