Uva Community Health, inc. ("Uva Community Health") is the parent entity of the Uva Community Health enterprise, an integrated network of not-for-profit, tax-exempt entities that includes physician offices, outpatient facilities and Community medical centers. Uva Community Health and its component entities, along with the university of Virginia medical center, the uva school of medicine, uva school of nursing, uva physicians group, and the claude moore Health sciences library, comprise uva Health. General information Uva Community Health encompasses three Community hospitals, uva Health culpeper medical center, uva Health haymarket medical center, and uva Health prince william medical center, as well as Uva Community Health medical group, an integrated network of primary and specialty care clinics throughout Northern Virginia, culpeper county and surrounding areas. We offer a compassionate, personalized care experience that brings the world-class care of uva Health closer to home. Uva Community Health brings together leading technology and expert care, ensuring residents of Northern Virginia and culpeper have access to emergency care, inpatient hospital care, and outpatient clinical care from leading primary care providers and a wide array of specialty care providers. It also means increased access to uva Health referrals (locally and in charlottesville), anchored by a world-class academic medical center, and medical research enterprise. In addition to our quality and comprehensive categories of services, Uva Community Health is proud to offer a patient financial assistance program. We work with patients to help qualify them for public assistance, establish a reasonable payment plan, discount their bill or provide them with free charity care. Community engagement Community engagement is a critical component to the mission of Uva Community Health. Through its medical centers and medical group clinics, Uva Community Health establishes and provides programs that serve patients, neighbors, and some of our communities' most vulnerable citizens, such as: - charity medical care for the uninsured, services to individuals with Medicaid coverage at less than cost, and medical services that lose money but are important for the Community; - Community Health education, support groups, outreach services, Community events, and free screenings; - academic Health programs and partnerships with Community partners; and - grants to support local nonprofit organizations focused on improving access to mental/behavioral Health resources, prevention of chronic disease, and healthcare workforce pipeline. The following examples are a sample of the activities and initiatives undertaken: - physical, occupation and speech therapy clinic at madison day in madison county, providing screening and education about balance. - education provided at outreach events with a focus on ethnic communities that have higher risk factors for chronic disease such as black, African American, and hispanic/Latino. - virtual event on substance abuse awareness & prevention with manassas city police department. - drug take back day events held in partnership with local police departments and the drug enforcement agency. - cohosting pamper me pink event to raise awareness for breast cancer and raise money to fund free mammograms for underserved individuals. - promoting mental Health and healthy habits for children at children's day in the park hosted by healthy culpeper. - living the dream foundation grant to support mental Health gatekeeper training and scholarships. - aging together support to provide a Dementia toolbox training for caregivers. - grant funding to provide services that help those with developmental disabilities enter the workforce through culpeper county parks and recreation. - blood pressure screenings, body mass index screenings and heart Health education at multiple Community events. - hands only cpr education in classes at the manassas Latino festival in Spanish. - heart Health education and screening at east end mobile home park Community with Spanish language translation services. - education on preventive care to combat chronic disease at festivals, farmers markets and various outreach events with a focus on ethnic communities that have higher risk factors for chronic disease such as black, African American, and hispanic/Latino. - future kings Diabetes research focused on wellness and prevention for the black and African American Community. - cfh inc. & crossroads connection for food insecurity. - workforce pipeline program support for the organization hire ground, focused on motivating 11-12th graders at risk of dropping out of school to stay enrolled until graduation from high school. - support prince william county schools discovery enrichment summer program in mathematics and stem-h. Both prince william medical center and haymarket medical center continue to provide financial and human resources to care for patients at the mother of mercy free clinics, and the greater prince william Community Health center. New technology & services in 2024, Uva Community Health facilities continued focus on delivering a remarkable patient experience while making leading-edge healthcare more convenient and easier to access for the Community. - uva Health outpatient imaging culpeper installed a new 3d mammography unit. - uva Health cancer care gainesville installed a new linear accelerator. - prince william medical center opened its new catheterization/ep lab, the first of its kind in the uva Health system. - prince william medical center renovated the interventional radiology suite. - Uva Community Health medical group continued to grow its primary care and specialty providers through acquisition and the creation of new clinics. - culpeper medical center expanded its orthopedic space. Awards & accreditation all Uva Community Health medical centers are fully accredited by the joint commission, an independent organization that evaluates a healthcare organization's performance in areas that most affect patient Health and safety. - all three Uva Community Health medical centers once again received a grade a in quality and safety from the leapfrog group in the spring and fall 2024. - prince william medical center was awarded the American heart association get with the guidelines bronze plus for coronary artery disease stemi receiving bronze plus. - prince william medical center was awarded the American stroke association get with the guidelines stroke gold plus with honor roll elite. - uva Health therapy services haymarket was awarded the press ganey hx guardians of excellence award. - prince william medical center was named a high performing hospital for heart attack by u.s.
