The Northeast Louisiana Power Operation Round up, inc (corp) was formed for the purpose of the accumulation and disbursement of funds for charitable or philanthropic purposes to meet critical needs of qualifying individuals or organizations located in the seven parish service area of Northeast Louisiana Power cooperative (nelpco). Operation Round up is a voluntary community service program that gives nelpco members the option to allow their utility bills to be rounded up to the next whole dollar. The difference in the member actual bill and the rounded up amount is collected by nelpco as contributions for the benefit of the corp and transferred to the corp on a regular basis. Transferred contributions are deposited into the corp checking account and managed by a seven person independent anonymous corporate board in an effort to have a positive impact on the area. The board meets once a month to discuss pre-reviewed applications.
