Healthy Homes identifies abandoned Bennington single family Homes within established residential neighborhoods that are in such a state of disrepair that the cost to repair or renovate the home to a habitable condition will significantly exceed the fair market value afterwards. For that reason, these properties are not of interest to other, more traditional purchasers and thus are likely to remain abandoned and continuing to have an adverse impact upon the neighborhood. Upon acquiring a property, Healthy Homes works exclusively with local contractors, subcontractors and suppliers to complete renovations. Working with local contractors helps to support the local workforce which, in turn, helps to combat the local poverty levels. Residences are restored to a like new condition. The objective is to restore the residence to an energy efficient condition with the expectation that the new owner will not encounter any major (costly) maintenance or repairs for many years.Homes are then offered
