DBCTX provides a developmental atmosphere for the Deafblind Community and hands on training and practice for both the Deafblind camper and the volunteer CoNavigators (CNs). DBCTX will work with other Deafblind organizations to raise awareness for the Deafblind, hold fundraising events in order to provide funding for CNs to assist the Deafblind during our events. Events consist of Deafblind retreats that focus on developing skills for Deafblind using CNs, networking and training in tactile communication to enhance personal growth, increase personal self esteem, and build self-determination skills, CNs will learn Deafblind etiquette, tactile communication, sighted guide techniques, and pro-tactile communication in an attempt to provide the Deafblind campers with an enriching, independent experience.
