EIN 81-4978447 · Snapshot of IRS recognition, filing currency, financial health, and governance.
In 2019 the foundation began the process of shutting its doors, because after interviewing doctors and patients it became clear that diagnosis using whole genome sequencing is prohibitively expensive for a nonprofit to provide for free. We also learned that the counseling support that patients would need after diagnosis is complicated because of the many unknowns that will result with this kind of technology. Unfortunately such support is beyond the scope of a foundation to deliver. Accordingly, the foundation dissolved and wound up its operations in 2020.
