Volunteer Diabetes education group that began to address the ravages ofdiabetes among the tongan population. Working side by side with theirtongan counterparts, doctors and nurses focus on the treatment aspects ofthis widespread disease. In prevention and education efforts, volunteerswork throughout the community in health fairs, Diabetes screening andeducation in high schools, community classes on healthy eating,implementation of family home gardens and exercise activities. The organization has continued to expand to other polynesian populations and to the first nation people in Canada.
